Saw that yesterday, and was like what the hell?

VA is retarded though

We need sequential lights on all major roads with multiple consecutive lights(close intersections to each other). Anyone ever driven in NYC? Less gridlock at times than here, even with more traffic. Why, one might wonder?

All the lights on the main road change at the same time, so there is no point in running one red light, just to get stopped at the next intersection. This would cut down hugely on the number of red light runners. This also allow would allow for much smoother traffic flow, less rear end collisions, and less people blocking intersections.

Granted this wont work at major intersections, with heavy traffic flow each way, but why not synchronize all the bullshit intersections so the main road has a continuous traffic flow?

Damn.

Because unlike New York City a lot of Virginia isn't divided into city blocks with a few exceptions.

My problem with RLC's is localities are quick to overlook look simpler, cheaper solutions in the name of "making the streets safer". Adding an extra second or two to yellow light intervals is PROVEN to reduce the number of red light runners and accidents associated with them. Not to mention this was CONFIRMED by VDOT, along with several other independant studies done on the matter.

In the end RLC's are a wash, if not a net negative effect. The number of rear end accidents increases vs. the drop in t-bone accidents along with the increase in property damage claims and calls to first responders.

While I don't make a habit of running redlights nor condone it, this gadget is quite usefull...........especially for speed camera's. http://www.speedcheetah.com/scshop/s...y=1&language=1

It's also legal in VA since its a GPS based device, not a radar detector.

only problem is that adding an extra second or two is proven NOT to add to city revenue.

BTW, Spawn, would it be okay if the police put a camera in every room of your house? You shouldn't mind as long as you aren't doing anything illegal, right? Not saying cameras at intersections are comparable, just pointing out how worthless the "if you're not doing anything illegal..." argument is.
actually, no , i wouldnt mind if they did.....nothing goes on in my house anyways...lol....im not even married yet, but still get no action.. and the argument of that is that this is my PRIVATE home, and intersections are on PUBLIC streets....

You shouldn't have a problem if you aren't following too closely and are paying attention.

If a company makes a product that results in harm through misuse we allow that company to be held liable if it knew that misuse was likely to occur. The legislature shouldnt follow policies that lead to reduced public safety, especially not under the guise of increased public safety. While I may not rear end someone, more accidents will result. Am I not to be angry with my government when it engages in behavior harmful to my fellow citizens?

Your posts in this thread have been nothing but stupid. There's NOTHING harmful about red light cameras. Follow at a safe distance, pay attention when you're driving, and nothing will happen to you. If someone rear ends you because you stopped at a light, so be it, you can't stop stupid people from doing stupid things.

Did you even click the links?

And again, this is ignoring the evidentiary issues they pose.
