We need less minor speed infractions and more focus on the red light runners.
No...We need less fucking idiots is all.
No focus on red light runners in rush hour traffix for sure. We all do that. I mean, I get pissed if the person in front of me stops on the almost-red when i've been sitting there forever anyway.

You know what else we need? Less pussies. I mean, i'm not saying let's blow through them all the time or anything, but i'm saying, quit bitching. People are still going to flip their cars anyway.
...pussy.

im pretty sure the camera catches you from the rear

And yeah, the camera's at the VB blvd / Independance int wont help traffic a bit.. if you're going eastbound on the blvd, the green light is literally 4 seconds.
I don't think they make intersections more dangerous, I just think they sh ouldn't fucking be up.
I mean, Red lights almost piss me off. As in...street lights, PERIOD. There are some places where it's needed, but with all the construction we should have crazy Jetson-type roads where no one needs to fucking wait by now.

The thing that gets me about red lights in this area (no, I don't run them) is nobody bothers to time them, so when one light is turning green the next one is turning red and you just go from red light to red light.

Then I guess you didn't read any of the links posted that showed that every single city that studied the results of a red-light camera program found it made the intersections more dangerous.

I'm willing to bet it's the drivers not paying attention to their driving that's making it more dangerous. The one's who feel the need to mash their brakes when a green turns to yellow.

A more compelling argument is that a 10 year test-run conducted throughout the state by the state government found they decreased traffic safety. That seems to be getting ignored here.
Have you rode through chesapeake square or even roads in suffolk lately? Probably not lol but there are cameras on almost every light out here and not many wrecks. Im guessing wrecks increased because people actually started STOPPING at the lights instead of RUNNING the light. And nosedive, thats illegal in the Commonwealth of Virginia anyways, I wonder if thats another ticket? lol

No, but when considering policy implications, I'm far less interested in anecdotal evidence than am I in consistent evidence being found by every study conducted, including studies done it other countries.

Right, that's what makes it more dangerous, and there appears to be some causation here that when people know there is a red light camera rather than safely passing through the yellow they slam on their brakes.

Get some plates that you can flip up with a switch.
