You obviously are here to show a true level of ignorance... In MOST of the 48 contiguos states driving on a suspended license is NOT a felony 1st time or 5th time, EVEN up here in mass which is known for having strict laws about driving... So if very few of the rest of the states in the country think it's not worthy of a felony charge what reason does VA have to justify it as being a felony? NONE thats what reason and for your information ANY driving infraction (even non moving violations) not paid on time will land you with a suspended license, so you mean to tell me that not being able to pay a ticket (or even forgetting to pay one) makes you a shithole driver? I had my license suspended for not renewing my license in my home state (which I was over 800 miles from) and that makes me a shithole driver? please explain how not having the resources to drive 1600 miles (minimum) to go get my license renewed makes me a shithole driver? Wakeup assbag just because your license gets suspended doesn't mean you have done anything of substance...

 

I can see your point in a way...but you think that getting caught 3 times on a suspended licensce is STILL ok? The 3rd time is ridiculous. Suspended means suspended, and they need to treat it like that, not treat it like it's a minor offense.

 

A class 1 misdemeanor is in no way a minor offense you can get 12 months and $1500 behind it so 3rd time or whatever you can still get worse than what judges are giving out, I am not saying it's ok but the time should fit the crime and being considered a criminal and having a permanent record behind driving under a suspended license (which equates to getting turned down for jobs you are otherwise qualified for) is a bit much. Besides they would just rather it be a felony because court cost on a felony (with no additional fines) is ~$900 so it's more profitable for the city, and the general public thinks that it's got to do with "getting tough on crime" so approval ratings for city council go up... you should be able to put the rest together and see how this works out for the city pretty well all over.

 

ya...there not playing with those driving charges anymore...u WILL get jail time..and hey...dont drop the soap..but if you do dont pick it up!

 

All I can say is, if you don't like the laws in Va, write your congressman and vote in the next election...

I think a lot of Va laws are just plain rediculous...
