Not that my opinion means squatt but this is one of many penzoil engines Ive worked on and they all looked like this upon tear down (I just happened to snap a few pics of this one)...\/

The above pic is from a one owner 160k mile 1996 Chevy 4wd turck with a 350 (5.7 for you metric ppl) that had penzoil since it was new. Owner changed the oil at 3-4k miles (he had reciepts for the oil changes) and the truck was just a daily driver. I got the truck due to low/no oil pressure which was caused by sludge blocking the oil pump pick up. Quaker state engines that Ive seen looked exactly the same as above.
For normally aspirated engines Ive used Castrol GTX and never had an oil related engine failure yet. My turbo stuff gets Mobile 1 synth exclusively.
My O2 FWIW

you're going to be replacing more than just the engine. Along the way, you'll probably find leaks, and all sorts of damage from where that car was abused. In all honesty, I would wait until you're able to save up more money than what the car costs. Never a good idea to empty your bank account on a car and not have any left over money for maitenence or things that break along the way.
