sheetz in Salem.
Still, hanging out there alone would be kind of boring...Most guys arent foward enough to pull into a station just to talk to a guy sitting there - unless he has one sick car they want to look at. Otherwise, i'd reccomend finding some tuner guys around campus - if they exist - and meeting up with them.
hey nice and low, I would be down for hanging out on a friday night or something but I work third during the week. Im off on fri. and sat though. Did you hear about them planning on extending shelor into a 1/4 mile track...If they are still opening up on the same day, I say we meet up there. Its like march 24 or something like that.
Is it set in stone about Shelor? I highly doubt they'll do it, but that's mainly because I'm skeptical about things like that and I personally think there was a reason why it didn't happen in the first place.
Their website says they're extending the runoff by 300ft for faster trap speeds, that's it. I got spoiled living in Jersey, I had 3 really good 1/4 mile tracks within an hours drive (Atco was 20 mins away) and could race 5 days a week if I wanted. Altho it would be nice to have a local 1/4 mile, I'm not gonna hold my breath.
I also highly doubt they will do it. If you remember when they built it, the slow down area is going into an incline, which means if it was a 1/4 mile, the second half would be up hill. They did that to simulate a longer stopping distance. IMO, this eliminates the thought of ever being a 1/4 mile track.

they are increasing the shutdown lane a little over 300'. it is still going to be uphill (if you saw how much blasting was needed to make it how it is, you would definately understand the reasoning!)
i doubt they will do it a quarter in the next few years, but it wouldnt suprise me the least if it does happen at some point. HASH (or SHHA, whatever branch of the company you are talking about) does some weird things sometimes. but the golden tie is that its all about money.
they got NHRA sanctioned yet? last i heard it was still being finalized.
as for hanging out at a gas station.....at some point you will grow up and realize that not all things in life happen at a gas station while staring at other shitboxes.
Freddy's however.....
Not for much longer, sadly. Home Depot is buying the entire corner there. Still unsure as to whether or not Freddy's and Sonic will stay, but I know the nursery and bank next to them are already in the process of moving, and those buildings are going to be torn down. Either way, I doubt very seriously that Home Depot will allow people to gather there.

On a side note, does anyone know how anal they are about rollbars? I talked to the guys at NB and they said they don't really care on a street vehicle, unless you're running into the 6's. Just wondering what I can expect at MotorMile. Shooting for low 7's, maybe some 6's this year, and I'm trying to avoid a rollbar as long as I can LOL
I haven't checked out MotorMile yet, only been to NB so far. But if it's inclined, then you're right, they probably won't make it 1/4 mile, cause they'd have to tear out the whole shutdown area to level it, too much work.
