when taking those 4 #10's off (which can be a pain) 2 pulleys should have come off, 1 smaller puller and a bigger one, they fit together and are held on by the 4 bolts. both are ran off the water pump.

ok ive gotten the water pump pulley off, and the crank pulley and 2 belts, and now I'm stuck at the lower half of the timing belt cover. I've noticed my motor has moved about 5 inches back towards the firewall and I cant seem to get it back to where I can put the motor mount back on. I also cant seem to get to the rest of the nuts for the lower half of the timing belt cover.

Does anyone have ANY ideas as to get to these and fix the position of my motor? I've been pullin on it from the front and usin the floor jack to try to move it but it will not budge... Long night, and long day tomorrow. I'm calling this wraps for tonight and hopfully gonna get started back on it again after I get my 7-8 hrs of sleep..*sigh* Thanks for the help guys..

You can not get to everything easily in this engine bay. Did you try raising and lowering the motor with a floor jack to help get a better angle at some of the bolts?

ok yea, life sucks. I dented the oil pan badly, when trying to change supports. But I had to take that off anyways to get to the crank shaft. I still cant get this stupid pulley off thats in front of the lower timing belt cover. theres maybe an inch of space to f*n get to the nut/bolt whatever it is. I cant even tell what size it is blah

The timing belt cover bolts are a 12mm I believe... it's difficult to get them off unless you have a ratchet-wrench. (sp?) You'll be fooling with it for a while using a regular wrench you can kiss the use of a socket goodbye.

How bad is your oil pan? You need to be careful with it.. I always fold a towell or two on my jack before lifting the oil pan to help from denting. Hopefully it's not too bad, it would really suck if the sump got messed up.

Ok so far I've gotten the timing belt off, balance belt, and the rest of the belts, the tensioner, the metal bracket the tensioner pushes on, 2 tensioner pulleys, drained the oil, all the bolts to the water pump, but cannot figure out how the f*k to get the water pipe off the pump. I'm thinking I just pull seriously hard? or what? Suction was holding the pump to the block until I pulled hard enuf and water spalshed out everywhere. Any ideas anyone?

The pipe is bolted on both the block and the tranny, plus there are 4 other hoses. One goes to the oil cooler and its near the water pump, another goes to the turbo and its closer to the intake side of the motor. Then there is a long arm that comes off of the water pipe that goes back towards the firewall, and that piece has 2 hoses on it that go to the throttle body, those ones are a PITA to get off, I damn near turned into the hulk trying to pull mine off cussing like hell.

Once all those come out the pipe simply pulls out of the water pump housing, and you DEFINATELY need a new oring for that piece, you dont wanna slap everything back together only to have to tear it all apart because you were a cheap ass and didnt wanna buy a 2 dollar Oring, so definately replace it.
