Supercharge it HAHA, cuz blown is better....but good luck finding a kit....I am going with the SR in mine because it is a lot less stress than going through countless engines trying to get the KA tuned right at a higher boost, like they said above the KA is safe at low boost but anything higher and you will blow it. You can check out this guys site, www.executivecleancar.com/240 he put down 438 at the wheels at 22 psi, but he had been through like 8 KA's to get there, he can definately answer anything you would need to know.

Thanks for all the input guys. I should have mentioned I have, of course, been reading up at zilvia, 240sx.org and freshalloy...just thought I'd see what some "real" people had to say

stirpicult - pretty much we just want to get a turbo in there, for the obvious power gain, and greater power increases we'd obtain from other mods (intake, exhaust, etc). JDM would be nice, but either way is fine.

And yeah Dan, meant 250-275 crank, not wheel

NismoRacer - low boost is what we're looking for, like 7-10 and probably nothing higher than 10-12psi. This will be his daily driver for a few years, so we don't want to be blowing up too many engines

Our KA has about 130k on it but like you guys said, another KA can be had at relatively cheap prices.

Again, thanks for all the comments...if anyone has any other input, would love to hear it

plug for jgycustoms.com. they sell complete engines with harness and ecu, etc for around 2300-2500 for an s13 model. they hand pick them. the east coast se-r guys (mid atlantic at least) live by them and they are in wytheville.

if you know the sh1t that car went through to get those numbers youd run for the hills, hes lucky he makes the money he does to just keep repairing, not the best example to show the positives of a kat

btw i have a s14 blacktop sr, 019 is right redtops are likely to have higher milage, maybe also youll be lucky, either that or try a s13 blacktop, still id try for the bigger turbo s14 if you can

theres are plenty of shops in nova itching to get a swap under their belt, id would just call around, im sure for some doe and beer you could find some guys in va/md that have done 1-2 swaps themselves also

This is true. SO many shops in NOVA wanna do the SR swap. Its the new "hot shit" hehe. As of August, not one big name shop has completed an SR swap. I know Altered Atmostphere in Gaithersburg MD was working one one, but dont know if it is done yet. And what he's saying about the SR install by other 240 guys, i know a bunch that would be willing to install for relatively nothing compared to what a shop charges.

I'm here to give some first hand knowledge. First off, let me say I daily drive a turbo KA at 1 bar (stock motor). The car only had 40k on it when I turboed, so the choice was easy.

The ring lands on the KA are the weak point of a stock motor. Anything over 1 bar and you are pushing your luck. With the proper fuel management, you can do 1 bar all day long and not worry about it.(I currently run the JWT 50# program with cobra maf, and a Z32 fuel pump.) THe KA is not forgiving in stock form, one fuck up and the motor is toast. I have to watch it like a retarded kid.

I have been in numerous KA and SR powered cars. I personally enjoy the KA more.
