haha, if you can't get a chuckle out of your car putting up a smoke screen then you're just not emotionally equipped to be drag racing

Just got an email from one of the guys at the strip.

$7 Spectator
$10 pit entry
$10 entry for test & tune

If it were $5 or less, I'd be there a lot.. but $7 just seems too high. Oh well, I had fun when it was free.

As for the 2nd gear miss, I believe my syncro is going out, it has been grinding really bad during downshifts lately, o well though, I think a single bajinxed shift was the least of my worries last night. Jeff I think ran a damn 8.1 if I was told right in his 240 with slicks on, marshall got like an 8.9, it was just bad. If you cant tell im still just urked about it all, I have been so looking forward to going to the track and getting a new time on my current setup since its changed so drastically, and then it turns out completely different from what I expected, just kinda urks/saddens me. I dont head to the track often for fear of breaking things, so I think next time I go will likely be MIR this summer, a track that should have good traction.
you won't get traction using the 2 step with that turbo even on a prepped track.. on my 50 trim i always roasted the tires till 2nd gear at MIR.. spinning my way to high 1.7s out of the hole. nice trap though!

Yea dave, but Id be happy if I was spinning and still pulling 1.7's THAT I wouldnt mind, its when I spin and pull 2.5's that I get urked . After talking with dave it seems I was shorting my 1-2 shift pretty bad, I figured shifting early because of loss of traction would have been better, but everytime I'd hit 2nd gear, I'd have no boost, and would be at low rpms because of this. I think I'll have to try MIR later this summer.

the early shift could have been part of the 60 foot problem as well.. if you bog before the 60 foot mark it'll kill the 60 foot.. normally you'd be shifting into 2nd about at the 60 foot i believe? when i spun i would wind out the gear and just spin through it to maintain load, so that is probably how i was spinning so bad and still getting half-decent 60 foots compared to yours. spinning sucks though, that's why i just spent way too much money to get rid of traction problems completely forever.

When you start to spin, slightly ease your foot off the gas and stay in 1st until the tires finally hook, THEN shift into second.

Don't worry, my best 60ft of the night was only a 2.0 on M/T slicks.
