VIRGINIA SPEED = extra special motor

Re: VIRGINIA SPEED = extra special motor
Sonny - Sorry to hear.
You actually got me into vettes when you let me drive your C5 at an auto-x years and years ago. (bought a C5, will be in the market for a c6zr1 here in about a year) You were gonna take me out in the C4 but it was leaking oil from the pressure sending unit :P.
I've dealt with VS twice. Once to get a car dynod and another to pick up some AN fittings. They were woefully overpriced but I needed them immediately.

Sonny,
Sorry to hear about the issues with your motor. Rest assured the team at Virginia Speed are dedicated to ensuring your happy. The pieces in the pictures in the thread are nothing special, they are an oil pressure sending unit that has come apart resulting in the lack of oil pressure on the guage. The sending unit was replaced and I am getting word that the motor has a solid 60# of oil pressure. The bearings were checked and the motor looks solid.
The issue of rich idle with the tune is being corrected. The tune was not done correctly before and is being corrected. The reason the engine was running soo rich was the fuel table was commanding a generous amount of fuel at idle conditions. It had about 25% too much fuel in the idle cells. Hopefully this issue is resolved soon and you can update everyone on your experience. I am sorry the problem with the tune slipped through the quality control cracks.
Sincerely
Phil Thomas

Re: VIRGINIA SPEED = extra special motor
No spin put on the story, just stating the facts. Sonny had concerns that something in the motor had let go when he saw no oil pressure on the guage when in fact it was a oil pressure sending unit had came apart. There are some things we just dont have control over.
The tune is a whole different story. The former employee who attempted to tune the car is unfortunuately no longer with the team at Virginia Speed. The shop manager took the former employees word that the car was done when in fact it wasn't completed. The car is being retuned with a watchful eye and we'll let Sonny have the last word in the matter once the car is completed if it meets his expectations.
Sincerely,
Phil Thomas
