VIRGINIA SPEED = extra special motor
Look what I found in my rebuild I had done at Virginia Speed... I guess a $10000 rebuild does get you something extra!!
From the time I originally picked the car up after the rebuild, it has been running PIG RICH (burn your eyes and smoke from the exhaust on a warm day RICH). They said I just needed a tune. The tune has not fixed it.
Since the rebuild was completed it has also been leaking oil. After 2 trips to their shop, they agreed that it was the rear main and replaced it. I picked it up and drove it home, and parked it in the garage. I took it for a drive about a week or so later, and noticed that the oil pressure was 30 and dropping. I made it home, and then I could see that it was still leaking oil. I called them and told them what was going on, and they said that I needed to do a majority of the tune, and that I also needed to change the oil and the filter before they would do any more work on the car. I told them AGAIN that it had no oil pressure, and that they could change the oil and filter when they were diagnosing/repairing the oil pressure problem... and that it was still leaking oil. They said that their work has no warranty, and that they would not ever work on the car again.
I have not raced the car since I got the motor rebuilt, and I have driven it less than 300 miles (and about 180 of those are back and forth from my house to their shop).

Re: VIRGINIA SPEED = extra special motor
they are known for either A) awesome work or B) complete dog shit work.
They pulled some shit with me a few years ago on a turbo manifold. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone for anything.

yeah, fuck them. brought em' some ball joints that i needed pressed into a control arm. simple job right? no, fella brings them out and one of the ball joint boots is mangled and destroyed. he doesn't say anything, just proceeds to ring me up and charge me full price. i stop him, question, and bitch and
the best i got was, " we'll charge you half the labor if you bring them back with new ball joints" scumbags. plain and simple.
op, what kind of motor/build was this?

HAHAHAHAHAHAH
sorry for your money poorly spent. VS is a joke. Your better taking your motor to a special ed center, feeding the children pcp, and then blasting them with piss and having them assemble the motor.
VS is a god damn joke. They dont have anyone there that can tune. Doug is a chump. Constantly rip off customers and then do a piss poor job at addressing it. Pricing and work are astronomical for what you actually get. Ive seen more horror stories from them than any other shop out side of dyno inc

Shit Sonny... that sucks. The only thing I've used them for successfully is getting Ed to tune a few of my Corvettes, but that's Ed vs. Va Speed. They do treat you pretty poor unless you're an "open checkbook" customer.
