go do some research and learn about the starters of racing around here. Junior Johnson, Buddy Baker, Curtis Turner just to name a few. those were the real men that started it.
anyone can drift a 240. it takes a real man to send a 28' long car sideways on a hairpin mountain road with about 200 gallons of bootleg in the back.
I do it because it the most fucking fun I've had in my car to date.. Ive dragged raced my car, Ive street raced my car, Ive Auto-xed my car, Ive run VIR in my car and its the MOST fun Ive had in my fucking car..
If you dont like it, stfu and get the fuck out of our forum.. Fucking threads are pointless..

The new Fast & The Furious movie is about the drifting scene in Japan.

then stay out of this forum, and tell us we're gay when the fad is over.....
For one this thread asks "Who thinks Drifting is just a fad?" so if people feel just as strongly about it being a fad as you feel it will stay so be it. This thread is for those who use their cars for motorsports.. Having said that Drifting is very cool when done in a proper setting, just as is AutoX, or Road RAcing. What I hate are these A-holes who throw the JDM to a 240 and think they can drive it like GOD. I was on North HAmpton a month or so ago and 3 240s made a U turn and all of them slid the rear taking up multiple lanes and continued to slide to regain control. That is just stupid. Just like its stupid for people to think that when they are on an on ramp they are now all of the sudden in an F1 race.
Motorsports of all kinds are cool. Just do them in the right setting. Its the guys that are donig these things on the street that suck. And when they go away it will be OK. When TFTF came out everyone wanted to Street Race and now that seems to have died down. The diehards will continue to do what they like and thats why its not a fad.
And the reason that the Japanese are into all forms of motorsport much more that we are is that they have a race track in every town (almost). It costs very little compared to over here to participate in your chosen sport. Insurace will be the killer to the Grassroots groups, which may intale local AutoX events ,and Drifting on the local level.... Just look at the SCCA's Pro Rally it gone....
