VIR Full course Feb 22, 23 & 24
First session of the day I did a 3rd to 2nd instead of 3rd to 4th. At calculated gear ratios my car saw approximately 10,100rpm. Ran fine after replacing belt, then 2nd session comes along and she dies. 0 compresion in number 1 cylinder. Never even got to heat up the hoosiers. (I was the black eclipse)
We were violated. It was soooo wrong!
I was instructing the driver of the 240. We were sitting in line with the rest of the group waiting and bam, the vette plowed us from behind. Didn't even give us a reach around.
Other than that, the weekend was killer. I had a few growing pains with the new set up in the Miata, but I kinda expected that. I have some work to do before the next event. A few mechanical mods in the engine bay and some BIGGER brakes. This was the 1st weekend that I ever felt brake fade in the Miata with race pads. I guess when you increase your straight speeds by 20mph, it takes a little more brake power to slow you down. I'll have it right by the next event.
Playing with Brett, Pete, and a couple of the M3s on Saturday was a blast. I need to look at some video, but I know we were flyin'.

I was with my student 2 cars up from the "vett/240" incident (I was in a neon srt-4) . We stopped , then I look in the mirror, and see the 240 at an odd angle, and the front end was almost touching the ground. It took me a min to realize that he got rear ended. Bad deal for all, but it appears everyone was ok.

Had an awesome time in Group3... Derek and I played most of the weekend. RA1's are a blast!!!! The only bad was a small tear in a CV boot (with only 5 track days and 1000 road miles) sat but it was on the axle side so it only lost a little bit of grease. Oh yeah and I cracked a front rotor in 2 spots. And when I say cracked I mean split all the way through and that could have been bad if it came apart.
I have some in car vid from Brett's, Derek's and my car that I'll try to get posted this afternoon.

^ They rarely come apart... cracking rotors is a very common occurance when tracking a C5. 3100lb car that can go 150 in the straights + el cheapo one piece NAPA rotors (or OEM too) = crackaroo. I just beat the shit out of mine w/ Wilwood H pads until I feel that tell tale "thump thump thump" in the brake pedal then pit in and swap them.
My weekend on paper sucked a big one, but I actually somehow had a really good time just because of the people I was with.
My car fucked up all weekend, handled like total dog shit, had no grip whatsoever on a set of used Hoosiers, I only ran one complete session and it was still way off pace because I had no LSD and couldn't turn left because my driver's side axle refuses to seat itself in the transmission no matter what I do. I had a few big offs at high speeds that made me shit myself due to the no grip I was speaking of, I had a costly mistake in a friends car, and I got a ticket for expired trailer inspection on the way home on my friends trailer I was borrowing. Yay.

^ Kevin... I don't have an inspection on my trailer. I had no clue I had to have one as I bought it in South Carolina and when I registered it in VA they didn't say anything. One of the guys at the track running a red C4 (Bob from Richmond) said they're really cracking down on trailer inspections in VA. Did the cop pull you over for that specifically, or pull you for something else then check for the inspection?
