It depends mostly on your priorities and where you will be running.

Rapid fire comments: A Hoosier advantage diminishes on asphalt. You'd better have ABS, a Hoosier lock-up can be $$$. On concrete, a hot Hoosier may only be .2 to .5 faster IF HOT. Hoosiers need heat to work. Kumho is at least as good if not better than a Hoosier in the rain/cold/damp. You can't drive to events on a Hoosier. Hoosiers are big $$$'s. The V710 is still a unknown quantity (but early reports are favorable).

You probably won't win DSP @ Nationals on Kumho's.

FYI: The 03 Hoosiers may be going on closeout soon so keep on eye on the Hoosier website...

I'm stuck with a couple realistic tire sizes; 205/50/15, 225/45/15 or 225/50/15. I'm leaning toward the 225s but Hoosier doesn't offer A3S04 in that size. So if the 225s fit with no rubbing issues I will likely go with the Kumho Ecsta V700/710s. From the sounds of it, they would be the most logical choice. I'm not looking to cord my tires with one little mistake. I'll then likely have to find a 7.5" wheel. Does anyone have 225's on a 7" wheel?

By the way, "You probably won't win DSP @ Nationals on Kumho's.", what ever happened to optimism. Just kidding, although I'd like to try a national event or two this year my focus will be on being fast locally, not necessarily the fastest but fast. Especially considering that I ran on dry rotted tires last year and was told by Greg that I should seriously think about replacing them and soon. He almost didn't want me to run the last event. Even a decent set of tires should make a big difference.

I appreciate all the help everybody.

You can (most likely) fit a 225 on a 7.

I use to shoehorn a 225 on a 6.

Bring beer and or tips to your tire guy.

there arent many advantages to going to a 17 well none i can think of. I had 225's azenis on 7 inch rins that were just slightly wider than 205's on 7 inch (I know not all company sizes are the same). My point is, is that a heaver wheel/tire combo is more unsprung weight. Also the slightly smaller combo will help get the car out of the corner faster. I first tried 205/50/15 on 15x7 wheels on my SpecV and didnt like it I was always in the limiter. I switched back to the stock size 17's and felt more comportable. The limiter is at like 5600 onthe spec and like what 7800 or more on the Lude so you shouldnt have that problem

I think a 15 or 16 would be the best choice. Hondas need all the help they can get coming out of the corners.

I'm trying to keep to a smaller OD than stock (<.5") with wider tires (greater friction patch). In order to do that I will need light 15" wheels. In a 15 it should not be difficult to stay under 14 or 15 lbs to lessen unsprung weight and compensate for the additional friction.

me and Axelerate run Konig Traffiks. there are 15"x6.5" and 12.5lbs. I run 225/50 Victoracers on mine, and he has 205/50 azenis on his. They are $444 shipped from tires.com .

Oh, btw, i believe i have a bunch of pics of you racing if you're interested.

Konig Traffiks are one of the wheels I have been considering. I'm leaning that way because they're light and cheap. My dealer cost is real cheap. I'm also considering Konig Helium at 10.7 lbs for 15x6.5.

Have you had any excessive roll issues with running 225s on a 6.5?

Also, I am interested in seeing the photos you have. I only have a few that I have snagged off the site. If you could email them to 00lude@cox.net I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

i don't believe i have any issues w/ rollover, but i do not have any experience w/ a wider wheel and same tire. i run 38psi front, and 46 psi rear. FYI: the eibach sportlines are soft as hell in the back, and the rear tires never get above warm. Any lower pressure in the front, and it does rollover the sidewall. the kuhmos have a triangle on the sidewall to let you know where the wear point should be, and i'm right on it at 38psi. i'll email you the pics when i get a chance.

That would be great if you could send the pics.

I tried ordering Traffiks and they are discontinued (Konig may make another run with them but won't decide for 45 more days). Then I called Discount Tire and they only had them in white. I know, its a race wheel, why would I care what color it is?. But after talking a bit about what I was looking for in a wheel. The salesperson recommended ATS Comp Lites (15x7), a racing wheel and to mine and the salespersons surprise they were on sale. Long story short, they will be here tomorrow.

I have decided to go with Kumho but I may be limited in size due to the wheels 35mm offset. Hopefully I'll figure it out when the wheels get here. 225 may be out of the question. 205 in the 710 is the current front runner.

I appreciate everyones feedback. If anyone has any more to add please do.

I have those. Nice wheel, paint job was crappy but who cares? According to a better-than-bathroom scale, they are as light as they say they are (~13.5 lbs)
