DC Tour/PRO- Who's going?
The launches at the Pro are the one thing I'm sort of concerned about. My car, with R compounds on it, needs about a 7000 rpm clutch dump to get out of the hole as quickly as possible (and not bog down after the launch). The National level guys can do this because they're sponsored, get free parts, and are actually in the running to win. I on the other hand, would have to pay for a new differential or clutch out of my shallow pockets, and I have no chance in hell of ever trophying. I would probably just end up launching like a wuss, and accepting that I'm going to lose no matter what
. Well, that's not a good attitude for success, is it?
Ed, as someone who's done the Pro before... do they run your class during one day only, or do you run the course on one side on Saturday and then the other side on Sunday? I'm trying to figure out if I need an overnight stay, or if I can day trip this one.

Mike,
You run with your class, both days. You will run one side and, immediately after finishing, you line up for the other side. After you complete a L&R side run, you go back into grid. You then repeat this for a second L&R set which comprises one(1) heat.
You run 2 heats on Sat (total of 8 runs), and one heat on Sun (total of 4 runs). If it sounds confusing, it isn't. What it is is fast paced and nerve racking, especially as you are sitting at the light with the shotclock winding down.
Shot Clock: 25 seconds to stage, then yellow, yellow, yello,GREEN, and your off, preferrably door to door or ahead of the guy in the opposing lane. Don't get too greedy and red light though.
They may run a different format this year where you run all four of your runs (L/R & R/L) and your done for the heat.

Hey Ed
I was just looking at the sign-up sheet for the Tour/Pro events it has a place for continginces. I have allready signed up with Honda, and the stickers are on the car. By filling out this area on the entry should set me up with the SCCA? Or do I need to contact them and register in the contingicy plan with them.
I also plan on trying the new Hankook tires by then if its as good as they say it will be, plus they offer a nice cintingcy if I'm not mistaken.
Thanx
Michael

<<they're sponsored, get free parts>>
Not so much. They dump the clutch while cringing and at the end of the day give their transmission a hug and say "thank you for not turning into shrapnel today".
I'll be at the Pro in my car, maybe something else at the Tour.

Contingencies are awarded after (usually long after) the events.
Register with the parties plenty before the event. If I can remember correctly, Mazda, Hoosier, Mini, and BFG required a form to be submitted with your official placing to collect products/$$. Don't know much about other contingencies.
SCCA has sent $/trophies in the past without any action on my part.
$$$ and stuff may convince you (JRSCSI) to launch @7500!!!
