Autocross dose have some simple memory to it but so do track events. I have done hundereds of Autocrosses, and 2 events at VIR and even though I have seen corner 1 at VIR about 50 times I still cant hit it right every time. I'm not going to explain the difference or how a track day works thats what Google and the search button are for. But I will break it down this way both will teach you car control. Autocross cost are about $20 for 4 runs, track days are $300+ plus hotel and food for about 1.5-2hrs of track time. Autocross in the 757 happens within a 20 min drive 3 times a month, closest tracks are about 4 hours away.

So to anyone who just wants to be a better driver humble your self and just come out you will see how bad you really are!!! But, we all have to learn. No one was born a F1 driver.

No kidding. There isn't a cheaper or more convenient way to learn things you never knew you didn't know about car control and the limits of your car. You'll pick up skills you can use on a daily basis.

And I really dont like this idea that if you know your car is in the wrong class its ok because you wont beat the fast guys. If the car is in the wrong class its in the wrong class.

I don't know what class the cars runs in b/c I race with NASA. So i'm not intentionally trying to "cheat". That's why i've asked what class the car runs in before hand. This is simply a chance for me to get some more seat time before the nasa nationals at mid-ohio. I'm NOT running for points during autocross. If there is a major concern then point me in the direction of an SCCA official that could correctly class my car. Thanks for your advice.

DRFT.. my coments were directed towards LightningD. I think you are totaly in the right and have asked the right questions. The car will be in a mod or prepared class. I'm not sure which one but here is a copy of the 06 rules http://www.scca.com/_filelibrary/Fil...solo_rules.pdf

But like I said I do have a problem with those who knowingly class the car wrong, or say yeah I know its a ... car but I run it in ... I mean that type of person is who I have a problem with. Not someone asking what class, or where to go to find out.

ok, had to go get the rule book for this matter. I'm not sure which IT class the spec e30 goes into, but the book says that any IT car can go into street prepared in it's designated class. e30s go into DSP, so that's sounds like DSP to me. you just have to make sure you follow all the IT rules. you can even use IT tires if you wanted.

I have never really read up on the SP class but good memory.
