VTEC question
REcently my speedo went out and got it fixed due to the alt spd sensor fuse and replaced the VSS. However afterwards I realized my vtec doesn't crossover at 4400rpm in my gsr but instead until rpm hits like 6k or somewhere around there it hits but not hard and rpms drags back down and car feels like something is holding it back. The rpm doesn't shoot up but stays down and also my car frequently idles like at 400-500rpm and feels like its gonna stall sometimes. has anyone had this similar problem or can be of any assistance?? I haven't checked for codes and CEL has always been on due to a straight cat. Thanks.

Check for codes, then unplug your ECU or disconnect your battery for 1/2 hour, etc... But yeah, it doens't sound like your VTEC is engaging. Maybe you have another sensor problem.. If VTEC doesn't switch, the ECU will stay on the first set of ign and fuel maps and will most likely feel like a dog at high RPM. Sooo there is most likely something still wrong..

im not sure, but it sounds like your vtec never kicks in at all. at 6000rpm is right around where your butterflys in your intake manifold open, giving you a bit more power.
