Stupid Question: Keyless Entry

what year is yours? cause 98 up IIRC required a special relocator kit that kept your factory head unit wired to the car so the keyless entry works, but the head unit is tied up under a seat or the dash (the keyless entry module is internal....stupid design...but alot of manufacturers are doing that....)
the normal wiring harness for most hondas is the same, so the pigtails will work, but the keyless doesnt work. i had to fix one on a customers car one time, and i found that out, installed the correct install kit (65 bucks i think) and relocated the factory radio and it worked fine.
but, that was one car....i dont know details on yours.

if you just install an alarm, just get the alarm to control you keyless too....

dissasemble the factory radio enough to stufff behind the dash. get the reverse harness that plugs into the factory radio and just give it 12v (yellow) ign (red) and ground (black). that is all.
my aftermarket locks stopped working, and it ended up being that both the actuators randomly stopped working. put new actuators in and its worked like a charm ever since.
Also keep in mind the area you're trying to use it in. On my WRX, there is this one area west of Baltimore where my keyless entry will not work unless I am standing right next to the car. I believe this is because of the two radio towers across the street in addition to the doppler radar from one of the tv stations right across the street. I think the output from those places interferes with my keyless entry's signal b/c everywhere else it works fine on the first try. If your keyless entry works fine elsewhere but just doesn't work hardly at all in a particular spot, it could be the spot, not the entry.

i was under the impression an install kit was the harness on that car

at least that is what i got when i asked for one at the stereo shop. i know since its a DIN unit, it fits with the stock brackets....just needed the wiring.
good question....most every one i have dealt with ran the keyless entry system through the factory head unit.
i got most diag info for the system, but its kind of hard to diagnose a problem 200 miles away....
