A 600 hp 7MGTE? I'd have to see it to beleive it. Pretty rare to get that kind of power on a 7MGTE without blowing it after a few runs. The cranks were redesigned in the last few years of that run because of the balancing problems, among other things. There are a few guys who have spent upwards of 10k on their motors and are producing pretty nice numbers, but I would rather spend that on a 2jz.

Good luck on the work though. Those cars can be a major pita if you let them. I have had my share of them.

I know of two people personally that have 600+hp on there 7MGTE. The 2J has better volumetric efficacy but is not far off on design. Too many poor people own 7Ms and too many well off pll with expensive mechanics own 2Js.
Now if your looking for 8000+ redline... A 7M is not a good idea.

If you keep up on maintenance, replace the head gasket with a Metal one, and get your block balanced and blueprinted(needed for reliable high HP) with better rods and pistons the 7M will handle 600HP DD.

BTW there are a couple 1000+HP 7M's. Yeah a lot of money

I did all my tuning through
http://www.jblmk3.com
and if you know much about MKIIIs, you would know that is one of the best, if not the smartest guy when it comes to MKIII supras. He just didn't have the money to make a 7-800 horse motorat the time, and now he has other ventures. What we did though, was break the record for the highest horse stock turbo MKIII on several occasions. Just look at the site.

Anyways, I have been out of the MKIIIs for several years. I find it hard to beleive that anyone has made a 1000 hp version. I have worked closely with engineers and even a NASCAR team while building one engine, and I find it very hard to beleive that a 7M would last more than a few runs at that high of a number. I have seen some close to that number in Australia, and there may be a few in the US upwards of 700, but 1000???

Let's just say that I could have bought a MKIV for what I had in my 7MGTE!

If I can find the thread on Supra Forums ill post it up. The motor was strictly for racing so there probably wasn’t a huge life span set for it.

edit: Nice car.
