i feel like an idiot. maybe i have the wrong plug. the car side plug was cut out. my friend gave me what is supposed to be a 92-95 plug. i have come down to 2 wires on the car side and 2 on the plug side that do not match. dont want to try it both ways. anyone have a link to a guide.?

 

what color are the 2 wires that dont match? it might just be speaker connections. have you tried to plug it in

 

one may be a dimmer.

 

i solved everything but this. there is a red wire with a black stripe that comes from the plug(same on my friends coupe). it splits into 2 red with black stripe wires. there is only one red with black stripe coming from the car. i cut the wire loom and followed it up as far as i could reach. is this important? is this the dimmer like illegal said. i dont want to blow up a new head unit. i will take the dash apart if this wire is important. i will find the damn wire.
