Default Shift problem

OK here's the deal, a while back I thought my clutch was going bad. Then I snapped the short throw shifter in half, replacing it with the stock one. When I put the stock one in everything was fine for a while. Now problems have come back. Mainly it seems like going into 3rd at high rpm, and downshifting into 2nd, that it is tough to get in. Some people have said it may be the synchros, what do others think it could be. And how much am I looking at to get it fixed before it gets any worse.
