Im on a relatively low budget too so unfortunately i cant do something really sweet. Help me out! Thanks
just get a head gasket set and replace both head gaskets at the same time. get the heads checked for cracks at a machine shop and have them surfaced while they are there. you are already deep enough into the engine that id consider getting a cheap summit cam kit as well for a few extra hp. i could do this work on sbc in my sleep. id do the job for you for a small fee but i think you are quite far from me. a used 350 could also be a pretty inexpensive option as well. or you can sell me the car. i wouldnt mind having it

Seriously. If I were you I'd at least look into the option of a used 350. They came in nearly everything Chevy has ever produced, ever. Cars, trucks, vans even. It might be just as cheap and just as easy (or easier) to swap in a 350 from an old car as it would be to do the head gaskets on that 305.

hmmm Im still debating on what to do. I would love to throw a 350 in the beast but my main problem right now is a place to keep it and do the work. As of now its sitting in front of a friends house with tags from an 05 STI on it so hopefully it wont get towed lol. If I had garage space I would love to pull the 305, clean it, rebuild it, and sell it. Than with the cash I could buy a half decent 350 and pull that apart and do the same. Sooo unless I can find a place to tear her down I think im gonna be stuck with the 305.
