Default Radio has power, no sound

I've had my system (subs, amp, speakers) hooked up for maybe 2 years until a few days ago I started the car up and wasn't getting any sound from either input, just complete silence. Thought it was the head unit so I bought a new one and it worked. Next time I started car up, same problem. I took the old head unit to Crutchfield to test and it works. Anyone have any suggestions or similar experiences?

Cliffs:
-Radio powers but no sound (complete silence)
-Headunit tested and not defected
-Wires do not appear to be grounding out anywhere

if there is no sound and your speakers/subs are ran through an amp , id check the amp and all connections on it

check your rca cables if your using a amp might have gone bad .? . sometimes your doors speakers will ground out to the frame and cause this too.

Both channels won't have the same problem unless something is affecting them both. I think you can probably rule out RCA cables, because they won't fail at the same time, unless there is a short in the cable and it's making the whole preamp section of the head unit go into protection mode.

Therefore I'd check out the remote wire behind the head unit, and if the remote wire and power both have the correct voltage at the amps. This shouldn't be hard to troubleshoot if the problem is still showing itself. Either you have a remote turn on signal at the amps, or you don't. Either you have power to the amps, or you don't. Either you have a good ground at the amps, or you don't. If all those things check out, and you have only one amp, it could be a failing amp. Wiggle the power/ground/remote terminals on the amp and see if anything happens. It's rare, but sometimes the solder joints get fatigued and fail where the terminals meet the circuit board. Check that last, because it isn't worth checking until all other things have checked out fine and are eliminated.

Basically think about what parts make up your audio system, and how everything is connected. Think about each thing (audio signal, power, remote turn-on, etc) and what would happen if each of those things were disconnected, etc.

Is your amp still turning on? Make sure you check your fuse on the amp wire running from your batt to your amp.

so does it buzz or is the whole thing quiet?

b/c if the whole car is quiet then you have a problem with your radio or the wires that are going to the radio.

Fixed! It was the amp fuse after all. It didn't appear blown, but it was. Thanks for all the input.
