Default question about different VTEC motors?

I am looking around for either an H22A or B18C GSR motor for my 94 civic. The H22A is almost 1K cheaper and has 22 more hp. Any negative things about it?

The h22 is a harder swap to do. The gsr motor is alot easier to do, only involves a couple factory mount, where the h22 you got to buy a mount set from hasport or somewhere, so really not saving that 1k putting it in.

this is totally a personal preference call. if you like power and uniqueness youre going to get that with the 22. the only downside is the cost of installation most likely. but if your saving a G on the motor you should be able to afford that difference. ive got an 18.... and IMO i think you'll get a lot more enjoyment out of the 22. its a honda so its not like youre going to get less reliability. if youre going to beat it up, youre going to beat it up... so it doesnt matter what you get cuz its going to be a pain either way! lol... hope this helps.. good luck

If you plan on going boost, I wouldn't get a h22, higher compresson and more likely to blow the hell up. I personally would choose the GSR motor, not just becuase I have one, but too many leaks and random problems I see with h22s..plus parts are so much easier to find and cheaper in some cases.

My biggest problems with H motors are lack of aftermarket support compared to B series and the H series heads do not flow as well.
I know that you can eliminate the Balance Shaft...but that's more money that I don't have too with the B's.

B series all the way!
