i am just getting interested in car and i would like to know what overdrive is and does because the car i am getting has it thanks

overdrive is when a gear in your transmission is set up so that the output rpm of the driveshaft is HIGHER than the input rpm from the engine/flywheel.

it's usually the tallest/last gear in your transmission.

it's mainly for saving gas when cruising on the highway.
