mustang question for a friend

Default mustang question for a friend

hey, the mustang is newer, i think its a 2000, automatic v6. car started, brake depressed, will not shift out of park. seems to run fine other than that. brake lights come on n everything, pressin the button on the shifter to release it.. you can hear the stuff moving to try to unlock it, but it doesnt unlock. i was thinkin the shift release solenoid on the brake pedal. anyone got any other suggestions to try first to rule out other things?

I know some hondas have like a key slot you can set up so you have to unlock your shifter. Maybe mustangs have this too

being a mustang owner, i have to agree that it is a possible solenoid problem. Have him take it to MAS racing, and ask for Skip or Shawn. Tell them Moose sent you, and they'll hook you up.
