Back on topic. A engine swap is not that hard. You just need to be methodical and take your time. sr20deforum.com will help you with problems. Adding a custom turbo kit is much harder then dropping in a stock det (non GTIR).
Mechanically doing an engine swap is not very hard. The wiring ... well ... not so easy. It isn't brain surgery either, so don't let it scare you away. You just need to be good about reading wiring diagrams in the FSM.

Um ... that will solve NONE of the wiring issues faced when doing the swap. The only way to get around them is to do custom EVERYTHING. The wiring you have to do is for the dash and various engine components. You shouldn't have to touch any ECU wiring, so having a JWT ECU wouldn't make the swap any easier or harder. A standalone and custom dash will solve the wiring issues, but those sure aren't plug and play
