Default Jeep question

Ive got a 2002 Jeep Wrangler apeX. It is a 6 cyclinder with 4x4. I have been thinking about going mudding or atleast alittle offroad action. I have read stuff about people locking their axles. Do all SUV's with 4wheel drive have this and if so how do i do it on my jeep?

Uhm, you used to have to manually set it into 4x4 on older axeled vehicles. All you gotta do is stop, put it in 4x4 (and then i back up a few feet to make sure its engaged) and your good to go.

It's shift on the fly turn the button and its in 4x4.
I doubt your hubs have to be locked if they do you would know by looking at the front wheel the hub would have a dial.

They could be talking about putting "lockers" in the rear axle, thats a whole different ball park. The Rubicon has a lockable differential, but it is electrically controlled also.
