The other one that can fugger things up is the N75 valve (IIRC) they tend to crack and then later leak and the ecu just runs super rich, another one is the dump valve (similar to a BOV I believe) if they aren't operating correctly this can cause shitty power but I guess you would really wanna get an idea of what kinda boost it's puttin out before you start looking into this stuff. The K03's can die prematurely as when they designed the rest of the turbo setup they had problems with the oil lines coking however in an 04' which I believe is the AWW engines it should have been resolved so the tech may be right about it but there are a ton of guys getting rid of K03's on the 'tex (vwvortex.com) because they are replacing with K03S's and K04's (aka big turbo conversion) for sub $200 so if it's dead swapping it out with a good one for $200 might be a possibility too... the 1.8t tech forum guys over there are pretty helpful

You're a trial member, telling a known, veteran member he's wrong, but you can't even spell or use proper punctuation. Nobody is going to take you're dumb ass seriously acting like that. Why don't you attempt your statement again, but this time wording it with the intelligence of someone over the age of 9. You're an idiot anyways and obviously have no clue how to properly diagnose turbo issues if you're making such an accusation anyways.

but if the turbo goes bad it makes the engine create less exhaust gas so it spools up later???

What the fuck language are you speaking?

As for the rest of you, thanks for the advice, I'll let him know to check out vorex for an OEM replacement (dealership wants $1200 for the stock turbo...haha rediculous)

As stupid as "why-me" sounds, he could be right since I had a similar problem with the last turbo I had. It sounded like I had a supercharger at low RPMs but it was loud and distinctive.

If he is having a boost leak then he will be running rich and if its been going on for a while he could get the dealership to hook up a scan tool to check out his long term fuel trim.
