I have a 1995 gsr integra that i just got and just put a timing belt on and spark plug wires. I got it started for about 15 seconds and it stalled it wont start back up and I smell gas when trying to start it up. Does anybody know what this could be?

You timing belt is clocked wrong or your spark plug wires are out of order.








No, seriously. Check them both.

 

What do you mean by clocked worng? And yes he is right to check the plug wires. Also make sure that you are getting spark. If not then let us know and we can help further.

 

Cam sprockets and crank pulley aren't lined up. Belt timing is off basically.

So that's half of the things that need to be checked.

 

Oh, and was it running fine before you changed those things?

 

its timed right and i just got the car without the belt on it. but was told it was fine.

 

Oh, that's the rest of the story. So you don't really know if it's anything related to the timing belt or plugs at all. It could be something totally different, like a sensor failure or wiring problem or something like that. Why didn't you say any of this in the first place?

My question is why did it come without the belt on... That's very suspicious. It probably ran great until the belt snapped and bent some valves..

 

if it is a sensor which one would it be? and how can i find out if the valves are bent?
