engine choice question for 90 civic hatch
i dont just want opinion, im lookin for experience, thats why im postin here instead of general.... i have a 90 civic si hatch, with a stock motor back in it after some kind of swap... looks to be a d15... would i be better rebuilding this motor for performance SOHC style, or would i be better just buying a jdm motor? the engine needs to be rebuilt anyway.. can i get some suggestions?

Re: engine choice question for 90 civic hatch
First of all look at your budget. How much are willing and able to spend? If you want to spend around $1500 or less I would suggest a ZC swap. ZC engines are a very common swap and fairly cheap. They make 130 HP and you can get one, including tranny, computer, and shipped for around $1000. You can also use the stock mounts, linkage, etc. If you have $2000 or more then a B series VTEC swap and little more work and lots more HP. Most of the SOHC engines in any make aren't worth the time to do anything to, including the D15. 80-90 HP engine just not a good start for power. What it boils down to is MONEY. And do your homework and look around.

yea think of it like this...u have 90 hp now, so you would have to spray a 100 shot just to have the same hp as a usdm h22....get an h22 motor with tranny for 1800 bucks and go from there...
