Default EGT sensor posistion

ok i have just turbocharged my d-series hatch(jdm d15b) with a greddy bolt on kit and i was wondering where is a good place to tap into for a EGT sensor?ive had problems in the past that is why i got the entire greddy guage line up so when i take the long trip to cali where ill be stationed i wanna be able to see what the hell is going on with my car....so any ideas?

u want the sensor probe on the manifold in whichever cylinder runner that its the leanest, (the manifold is the best spot) the farther away from the manifold i.e. downpipe, o2 housing the lower the temperature reading is gonna be, therefore the less accurate your readings are gonna be put it this way if the gas is 1400f in the #1 cylinder runner in the manifold it might be 1100 in the downpipe so u look on the guage and go oh its only 1100f so im cool when in actuality your really 1400, in the dsm world we tap the manifold about 3-4 inches away from the head in the #1 or #2 runners least are known to be where the leanest readings have occured (the hottest readings), make shure u have a egt gauge that goes up high enough in temperature depending on your engine and setup

i second mr bmw, i've seen the most accurate readings right about 3" from the head in the number 3 cylinder. we actually quite often install bungs on all four runners and use the hottest one, then cap the others. this will insure that you're reading is from the hottest pipe. (which is why you bought the egt in the first place right?) good luck.
