CAr problem??

My car was low on gas, I stoped at a gas station put in 5 dollers get about a gallon and a half of only because it was expensive and i was only about 5 miles away from my house where it was cheaper. Get about 3 miles down, stop at a light and my car dies. It cranks over like it's going to start but thats the only thing. Tryed jumping it, let it sit for about a hour.Still no luck. I filled up a 5 gallon gas can and put it into the car. Does anyone know what couold possibly be the problem or has anyone had this problem. It's a 93 prelude. HELP!!! haha

put your key in, and listen very carefully, then turn it to the on position, you should hear a faint whining for a couple seconds. That will be your fuel pump kicking on. If you dont hear it then yea, you burn it up.
