Are you putting in a new sensor or a timing belt? Are you just trying to check your timing?

Stock timing for a jdm ca18det is 10 degrees btdc which is the third timing mark from the right.

Post back with any more questions if you need more information, just try to include a few more details next time.

Well the cas shaft is keyed so there is only one way to install it. One thing to remember is that if the timing cover is installed a little off it can cause the cas to bind when adjusting, you may have to loosen it a bit to make sure you have free movement.

I'd just install the cas with the adjustment locking screws in the center of the slots and adjust from there, make sure the engine is warmed up and idle is at 750rpm. Do you have a timing light? Another thing I just remembered EDM 4 port CA18DET engines are timed at 15 degrees btdc, nissan likes making my life miserable by doing silly things like that. So you may want to double check to see if you have butterflys or not in your intake manifold. I'm also pretty sure that the EDM engines had an idle of 850rpm, I'm about 95% sure, maybe someone can chime in to confirm/correct that number.

Hope this helps,
Gordon

Have you tried looking for a factory service manual for a car with that engine?
