Default Buffing out scratches

I have some minor scratches I wan't to fix. How do I fix them? What do I need? Where can I get products to fix it? Basically I want some suggestion on what to use and what is the best method in removing scratches.

Get some polishing compound and apply it like wax, only using a small amount of water.
