Default DSM Gurus, need your input.

Sup fellas, i am buying a 1991 tsi talon Auto AWD. The car itself and engine looks in sound condition, not one drip of oil anywhere inside the engine bay but i have never messed with DSM's before so i would like to know about some stuff in advanced.

Problems i've noticed:

1. Shifter moves up and down and the button on the shifter doesnt need to be depressed to move it out of park, is this a disconnect shifter linkage?

2. They said they car will crank but wont stay on, their son said before he left it might have an ignition problem or electrical problem.(son went to college)

Basically thats it. Wanted to know in the worst case scenario how much money i would probably come out the pocket to get this thing back on the road. If any of you ask why im buying it, im selling the SRT. Thanks for the help in advanced.

They have been noticed to pu down excellent numbers before. Of course it all depends on your supporting mods.

i want to build this thing equivalent to my srt-4. will upgrading the stock turbo do any good with like a td04e housing? i know that AWD looses power on top, so a bigger turbo with supporting fuel should do me some good right?;

Leon Reiman ran 11.6@116 on his 14b-6cm w/o nitrous, going to a bigger turbo would be somewhat easier but you still need the supporting mods....

yea go with supporting mods first before going for a bigger turbo. fuel pump,injectors, fuel pressure regulater depending on the size of fuel pump you get fuel control and hacked maf, 2g maf, or gm maf-t. open the exhuast up turn up the boost and basically you have a 12 second car. theres a lot of free mods/ cheap mods you can do. DSM's are the kings of home depot parts. at a recent meet in hay market somone had a pepsi bottle as a catch can. it worked cant beat it lol but thats more so not as often seen but anyways hit me up on aim if you want to some more info. bigroy80
