Default Any true Honda techs. here???

99 Honda Odyssey minivan with speedometer and tach problems. When I bought it in November they were intermittent. Now hardly at all. I can start the van and neither gauge will register. When I start driving, sometimes they'll kick on, sometimes they won't. If they do it's usually for no more than a few minutes and at no certain speed or after a certain time. It'll go months without working at all and then one day just work fine for an hour or two and back to nothing. I've checked the fuses and didn't find any that were broken/burnt/worn/whatever. I even went as far as cleaning them all to like new condition. I've looked at the speed sensors on the tranny and both seem to be in order, but then again I'm no expert. I've got the Haynes manual and it's telling me to tear apart the dash and look at the speedo head, something I really don't want to do.
Any insist on this problem please let me know.
Thanks,

make sure the wires are connected well. my gas guage on my car doesnt work all of the time and sometimes you just have to take apart the dash and reconnect the wires/clean the contacts.

Only thing I can suggest is to get a printout of the wiring schematics for the guages and trace the intermittent grounds.

I've seen similar problems with 92-95 Civics.
