ok my friend has a 91 crx with a b16.
the car has ran good for over 2 years and all the sudden the lights go very dim when he turns them on
gas gauge goes all the way up&so does the temp gauge.
also the tack goes dead..




the battery is new
alt. has been tested and its good.
alt fuse under dash is good too.


so if any one might know what is going on
alll your help is much appreciated

 

check connections of gauge cluster itself...my water temp gauge goes up all the way every once it the while...i just hit the top of the cluster and it fixes it....i just have a loose connection....

 

that doesnt explain the lights going dim. I would say have the alt tested while on the car and see what happens. Also just because the battery is new doesnt mean it is good.

i am working on a similar problem....my tach started jumping around while i was on my way home from p-town tonight....SO I am going to tear into that tommrow at work I guess

 

check the ground wire that goes to the dash lights. bad ground can cause lights to go dim.
