i like the idea that scc had- they used a 5 lug hub off of an s14 so they could mount a z aftermarket big brake kit. i think they fucked up though... nothing in the 240's brake system is up to par with 13.5 inch rotors and 4 piston calipers. if i remember correctly they were in the process of searching for another master cylinder.

if i ever do that conversion, i'm going to go that way, and do all 4 wheels at one time.

greaser, how good is that z lsd and how much of a hassle is it to swap it over?

edit:hubs were off an s14 not an s15.

There's plenty of big brake upgrades for the 240. Why would anyone want to go through the hassle to fit a Z kit? As far as big brake kits, if you have the money, go for it. The 300ZX upgrade is the cheaper version. I myself couldn't afford a $3000 brake upgrade, so I spent $1K on the Skyline brake conversion. Whenever I can afford it, I'll probably go with some Project Mu's.

Didn't know there were so many 240 drivers on here! How come you guys never go to the meets? I'd like to see some more Nissans invading the Honda lots.

Actually any brake kit that fits a 300ZX should fit a 240 ... but you have to upgrade the MC like blackout said. Unless you like a mushy brake pedal

And as prices go ... used is used as far as I'm concerned. I'm getting a rebuild kit either way.

yeah i upgraded my master cylinder to a 96 240 AUTOMATIC. they have a bigger 15/16" shaft than 7/8" shaft. The 300z TT has a 1" shaft and i tried to do that but found one that was completely bolt on (the auto). my brakes are quite good. On stock brakes i faded them at Road Atlanta. At lowes motor speedway i barely even could tell they were hot with the 300's. I have Front and rear 300z brakes. I need better pads for out back though. i'll let people interested in the swap drive the car. it was quite simple, just time consuming cutting the metal dust shields.

i used a 300z N/A rear end. it was simple bolt in piece. HOWEVER i used the 300z axles as well. if you use the stock 240's you have to swap output shafts.

if you are planing to put it in your S13 it will not be a bolt in affair. You have to change the rear alluminum housings over (S13's had 4 bolts to the subframe, S14's and Z32's had 2 bolts to the subframe) and you have to use some HUGE washers up front. The S13's didnt have any rubber isolators for the diff, everything else. So this means you have a small bolt trying to attach a huge opening where the rubber isolator is on any other diff. So you have to get huge washers to make it work.

Go look at the front diff bolts on your S13. then go look at them on an S14 or Z32 you'll know what i'm talking about.

Here is a new site you guys might be interested in, www.midatlantic240sx.com . Alot of people on there are from nova but it would be nice to get more people on there for meets and what not. I think there is a meet in richmond Dec 15th to go Karting, if any of you are interested.
