I have a 2000 Audi A6 2.7t 6sp that has been running flawlessly until 3 days ago (incidentally my wife had the car for the day and it started doing this when I got it back). What I am getting under hard acceleration is a slight hesitation at 3k rpm then a hard surge to ~4200rpm then rpm drops and I get a brief boost of acceleration. There is also an odd burning smell afterwards. I cannot locate or discribe the smell it is NOT an oil smell and there is no smoke. There are no codes, no visible leaks. I am stumped. There is no dentist drill noise from the turbos, no air whooshing i can identify from the drivers seat. The smell is acrid and almost plastic in nature.

The car has stock turbos, fresh clutch and swapped tranny, APR bipipe, Forge DVs, GIACs tune, new pvc system, recently done gaskets, fresh oil and filter.

Anyone experience this on their boosted car ?

yeah that was the first step - and the response was, "No, it was perfect". The more I think about it, the more I am dreading that she may have fried my clutch.

i had a similar issue with my a4... let's say if im going @ 40mph in 4th gear @ 2500rpmand i would stomp it it will surge and boost spike until past 4k. what i did was... clean my air mass flow sensor and check my DV but i think it was my Air mass flow sensor..it's been riding fine now..ohh and i also seafoam the car..

come to find out my clutch was slipping and I will check my DV's once the the new clutch is in, wonder what last time these Forge 007's were cleaned.

It's a perfect contrast to the truck - quiet, easy to park, gets a solid 25mpg avg and it's a manual. Mostly it keeps me from wanting to buy more cars and that's a big plus
