Number one you should never trade a vehicle in in the first place. I rarely ever take trade in's unless my customers insist on it. Usually I just tell them for me to buy their vehicle I would be doing them wrong. About 85% on every used car trade in a dealer will walk away laughing and make you think you just got a hell of a deal. When you trade it in, and they give you a price, make the dealer believe that you are relying on your trade in as a means to lower both your payments and your final price. Make the dealer / salesperson believe that if you cannot get your payments / final price low enough you are not going to buy. If they give you one quote, act as if you cannot do the deal and you're going to have to change your mind. If they don't change their mind, shop around some more.

bottom line is a modded car (i dont care how well done or what) is never going to sell to the average person for more then a stock car of the same model would.

you get deductions for alot of things.....believe me. best bet is like others have said, return it to stock (another reason not to be stupid and sell all your stock parts to some "sucker on ebay" because guess what....you will probly be in the same boat if you need to return it to stock...) i keep all old parts, because you never know when you will need them again. plans change fast, and sometimes you get into a situation where you need to sell, etc.....and you are fuckin yourself.

and, if you are trading in....well...you are simply either a poor person at selling their own car, or are desperate to get into something else. rarely will someone get the good end of the deal trading a car in vs. outright sale.
