it was my own stupidity. left there with out my seat belt on. got pulled over, trooper said he smelled alcohol asked me to step out of the vehichle and when i opened the door i had my .45 in the door panel. i had forgot all about it being there and he got me for a concealed weapon and seatbelt. down to jail i went for the night. blew a .02 so no dui thank god.

on a side note. anyone know any good lawyers or have any advice/ experience with this in carolina?

Doesn't help now...but everyone should have a permit.

Best of luck in getting out of it...I would think with a good lawyer you could.

the really shitty part is i have already taken the concealed class at bobs and had all the paper work filled out ready to go down to the courthouse but just havent had any time to do it. working 70 hours 6 days a week.

talked to a lawyer today. he said if any of the gun was visible in the door panel when i opened the door it isnt concealed.. sounds like bs to me. anyone have any knowledge on this?

It's up to the judge and officer. One key point is whether he can prove you had intent to conceal the handgun which I think it is obvious. This is NC right? There is also a law banning the carry of firearms with ANY alcohol in your system.
