So, you were trying to get out of the racing scene so you go and put a performance exhaust system on your car.

There's not really anything I can do as far as fighting it. Even if I beat this ticket i'll only end up getting more tickets. As far as the exhaust goes, i'm ordering a stock muffler next week. Its bullshit because I needed to replace my stock exhaust in the first place. So now I get to spend another $150 or so on a stock muffler.

What I meant by getting away from the street racing scene was more about avoiding hangouts, and the illegals....expo etc. I used to street race alot in the past, with my Camaro and my Rx-7 turbo. But I'm 25 now, i've outgrown the fast and furious stage of my life. Ok, I might do an occasional stoplight blast if the conditions are right, but thats few and far between.

The whole exhaust law is bullshit, cops specifically target japanese cars (as told to me by a ffx cop).....talk about profiling. None of my buddy's with domestics or Euro's have been stopped once. It reminds me of fishing, they (police) are attracted to shiny objects.

There's only two suggestions I have, paint your exhaust black, or leave the stock muffler on.

Whats even funnier is i've never been harassed once for my exhaust on my 242 turbo. I have a custom but stock looking exhaust with a dynomax race muffler. In the last 2.5 years i've never been stopped once, and the 242 is LOUDER than the Maxima.

My car is loud as hell. I got pulled over as well for an exhaust ticket but got a tint ticket instead. Why? I saw him stop momentarily at the back of my car to look at the exhaust and he couldn't tell if it was OEM or aftermarket. On this particular exhaust I had dual stock looking tips welded on and I painted the muffler flat black. When you look at it you would swear the thing was stock. Since he couldn't tell he checked my tint so that he could justify the stop.

So you may just want to think about welding on stock looking dual tips and painting the canister.
