Thumbs down Northern Virginia Traffic Madness....

Traffic ranting goes here.

I have talked to several people from other major cities (Miami, Chicago, NY, Atlanta) that have visited DC and/or NOVA and all agree that NOVA traffic is THE WORST they have every seen.

It does seem to get worse daily. Even in Prince William County it's too much for me, I had to start ridding with a coworker and come into work an hour earlier just because I was becoming so fed up with Rt. 29 in Gainesville which is my only real way to go to get to Wellington Road. It took me 45 minutes on Tuesday to drive the 2.5 miles from Haymarket to Gainesville. and driving a clutch tranny in traffic that moves 0.2 mph in 15-20' bursts is a royal PITA.

I want to know if there is another spot of congestion as bad as the Rt. 29N section in Gainesville just before getting to I-66. So far I know of no other area that it daily takes 25+ minutes to move 2 miles even when there is NO ACCIDENT!!!

[/end rant]

The toll road east where it meets 495 is amazingly bad during rush hour....66 east and 495 during am rush hour, rt.50 in chantilly during rush hour, 28 south @ walney road during pm rush hour....there is to many places...Nova is just plain old garbage.

The other option is toll where they're is barely any traffic unless and accident... but i don't think its going to take you where you need.. I commute from Fredericksburg to Tysons Corner everyday and it takes me an Hour and a Half to get to work. I just bought a 2002 WRX and Im gaining miles.... ALOT of miles... which sucks... but I know how you feel!

There's no where to "cruise" around here during daylight hours. Every 5 feet is a stoplight and a ton of traffic.

NOVA is starting to suck.

I grew up in New Orleans. I didn't know what standing traffic was till I moved here.

try going from Burke to Tysons every morning. It really sucks when you live 12 miles from work and it takes an hour to get there.

Oh and Burke to Reston is even worse.

i get to tysons from woodbridge (going through burke) in 45 minutes...not sure which way you're going but stay off the highway for sure.

and another nova spot that take 25 mins or more in less than two miles is 123 near occoquan and the prison...insane
