Default Living in DC

Hey everyone, I'm just curious does anyone on this board reside in DC?
I know that its drag Virginia but i'm just wondering if anyone does live in our nations capital.. Reason being is I have a good friend who lives in DC on Rhode island and it seems like a real decent place to live.. People seem to stereo type the DC area saying that everywhere is run down and dirty when in fact you can have a nice little living area right in the midst of everything..

So basically im just curious if anyone lives in DC and what kind of apartment you have and any expierences/daily stories you may be able to share...

P.S Friends of Friends who live in the district are welcome too

I dont live in DC but i spend 5 or 6 days of the week in DC and i've got lots of friends who live in the city. There's actually plenty to do at night in Georgetown or Adams Morgan. There's great restraunts and stuff like that. With the exception of constanly worrying about getting my car jacked, or the fear some dumbass is gonna leave paint on my rear bumper while trying to parallel park, its not a bad place.

I like DC alot, and am actually considering getting a loft in DC. Honestly people dog out DC, I think it's a decent city, they are making a huge push with the 5k income tax credit if you buy property and what not to get people to live there because everybody works there but nobody lives there simple as that. DC is different kind of living, traffic, shitty roads, I like to do the public transporation thing. YOu will pay more depending on the area, but I say go for it. I live in Crystal City right outside DC and don't plan on moving south or west. You can have your traffic and sitting in your cars I'll take the city life anyday

OH yeah and for everybody that thinks it's horrible and scarey you're a broad simple as that, DC is a cake walk compared to other cities like NY. I lived in SE for two months almost and took the Anacostia metro everyday, granted I was probably the only white guy but still and I parked at the metro stop. Then again I don't go looking for trouble and you can't see fear in my eyes

Take a drive up in the area of 42nd and W St. NW it’s a good area and fairly inexpensive. allot of peeps don’t no shit so they talk shit. That goes with anything else in life. Good area to live and there are mad chicks! College area. Surprising enough i never worried about my car getting jacked by some homo fuck either. Craigslist.com u can find some dope deals on rooming with someone.

I was getting ready this year to sell the townhouse in Manassas and buy a run down place around Shaw to rebuild - until I found out the difference in tax rates. VA is around 4.7 - DC jumps up to close to 9%! ("State" income tax) - that ruined it for me.
