I work in courts for a bit as training for my job, and It was kind of an unwritten rule that showing up with a lawer is much better than not. I saw several people get put in jail or made to do weekends for driving with a suspended license. best of luck

For first ticket, I would def request driver class...my friend on his first ticket asked and got on probation for 6 months...no moving violations in that time and everything gets dismissed. Too late for me to be saved

not exactly. the probation has nothing to do with the court, it soley up to DMV(same with points). 6 months probation = no points or no license. after that you still have an 18mo control period where if you get any points you go back on probation. and any traffic violation that carries a point value can get you jailtime as it is considered a misdemeanor. judges usually dont give you jailtime unless its your 3rd time driving on susp. because this ticket carries the possibilty of jailtime your first court appearance is like a free continuance, they ask you if you want a lawyer provided for free, if you are gonna get your own or i you wish to continue without a lawyer. since this court appearance really doesnt matter in the end it gives you the chance to talk to the cop and see if he will drop the charge since you have a valid license. if he wont thats when you tell the judge you want to get a lawyer and they set a new court date.

pm me if you still need help deciding what to do. -18points, 3 D.O.S., 1 wreckless, 1 speeding and 1 no operators license practically makes my a traffic court lawyer

still deciding if i NEED to take the other class (wreckless class)
my teacher said it'd look a lotttttt better but maybe its cuz shes teaching and she said she needs the business..lol

I don't think you CAN take the other course so close to the first one. I'm pretty sure it's a year between classes.

my teacher for the defensive driving class told me to take the other one with her...so i was guessing that it was allowed...

so i got my license back the day after i completed the defensive driving class. as i was walking through Fairoaks mall, being the dumbass i am i left the certificate of the defensive driving course in my back pocket and it fell out..along with the receipt from the DMV for the reinstatement fee

do you think i should try to get a new one from my teacher for proof that i took it for court OR does it mattter since i HAD to take that class to get my license back. (so having my license is enough proof).
