I am going to respectfully disagree. In this 30-something-second acceleratoin test, I'll be out of my seat for a lot of it, shifting my weight over the pedal going down. There wont be much opportunity for pulling. My approach will be completely different from that of a normal endurance bike race where you want to have the most efficient use of every bit of energy that you have and avoid tiring your muscles.

I posted the pic of the bike because: a picture is worth a thousand words. This is a car enthusiasts forum and it might be hard to explain my ride to some people here, but with a pic no explanation should have been necessary, except that asshats like you like to throw accusations around. Now I have to explain the pic instead of the bike, even though the bike costs less than the wheels a lot of people have on their road bikes.
Oh boo hoo. The only reason I said something again about the picture was because I was replying to Paul.

Deal with it.

Clip in pedals are more for mountain bikes. They take some time to get used to, but help alot for climbing and riding over rough terrain.

LOL how did I miss this thread. I understand that you are serious about the race, but still this is some funny stuff.

I'd race a go cart if the specs were right. I think most are either too slow or too fast though. Motorworld = too slow; Allsport SuperKarts = too fast.

Ya, I was not going to answer, but on a bicycle there is always enough time to be efficient.

Admittedly, I mountain bike, I don't ride road bikes. But pushing without pulling is inefficient, and standing up to pedal is horribly inefficient. You move your whole body, you waste energy by a tremendous percentage.

Either you didn't read the thread, or you have no concept of distance:
This is going to be a 1/4 mile sprint, not a century. It'll take under 40 seconds! I don't have enough time to even come close to running out of energy, so wasting some wont matter in the slightest. All that will matter will be starting/staying in the right gear and putting as much force on the pedal as I can. Efficiency wont be a factor. You guys would drag race your car and only be half on the gas so you'd get better fuel economy.

You can put more force on the pedals with both feet strapped in, no?

How is this different from riding a bicycle with only one foot fully utilized?
