Not always...for my reckless in FFX county I had taken a class like a week before and only got a 300 dollar fine and -1 on the record because of the class. I would have had to go to a school if I didn't already taken the class though. Of course the class is like 50% cheaper if the judge tells you go attend it.

Chill out about the ticket...on my first ticket (38/25) the damn cop didn't even show up. At the most you'll get a small fine and some points, I'd still take the driver's improvement course.

Thanks for all the advice guys! All of you that say you got out of your tickets, were any in Arlington?? And are there any cops in Arlington that you guys know of that will go out of their way to screw you over??

I know its not a reckless or anything, but my insurance is under my parents name and they may drop me if they find out, so I am trying to get rid of the points so that they don't kick me off insurance, because I'm a full time student with a low paying job and can't afford auto insurance and still be able to pay for my gas.

Unfortunately it was a clear day and I'm pretty sure that I was a little ahead of the rest of the cars, but I wasn't pulling away from them quickly as far as I can remember. So, the laser will most likely be considered 100% accurate. As for calibration on my speedometer, My car is only a year old and just went through inspection, also everytime there are those speed readers on the side of the road it usually displays the correct speed (give or take a mph or two).

Unfortunately I was thinking about something so I was totally distracted, so I don't remember much about what was around me besides the cop car and the location. I seriously have no idea how fast I was even going, wish I did, cuz I will look terrible in court saying I have no idea how fast I was going.

Usually Arlington court systems aren’t as strict as Fairfax or other counties. Your ticket is an infraction and they’ll take points off if found guilty. If you want to try to go to court since your record is CLEAN. I recommend taking the driver improvement class, which is like 80 bucks and an 8-hour class with a test at the end. After completing the course. Tell the judge to please consider the fact that you have a clean record and that you have taken the class. It will show initiative. There is a chance this will work, but only if you have a clean record. And if it doesn’t work in court, and you do get found guilty, the driver improvement class gives your +5 points on your license. So if they take points off you’ll get them back because of the class. (Insurance usually works off of the DMV point systems). The best bet is to pay the ticket off online which will be cheaper because they don’t charge you court fees, take the deduction of points which will be a MAX of 4, and take the class to get those points back. But you can try your luck with court. If you lose you’ll end up paying a little more. It’s like a 50/50 chance if you have a good record.

It's not the insurance company that would drop her, her mom is paying insurance for her so if she finds out, she'll freak out and won't pay her insurance anymore.

I'd call a lawyer and see what they say, can't hurt. You're also a young girl, and if you're good looking, they'll be easier. My friend's lil sister got a wreckless and DUI in DC, she got off with "improper driver" or some bs like that. She did hire a lawyer that costed her 2gs though...

lawyer will cost you more than the fine you'll get if you just pay the ticket. you're going to be out around $150 for this one. it's only 4 points which you can get off your license by taking the class
