ive heard from a bunch of people that near the bay bridge area is excellent most of the year round. we used to launch a boat out of Deltaville and usually caught a lot about 3 miles out, but that was several years ago.

So if you're only limitations on location is "va", then you could get to the Rappahonock and catch some small bass. In Frederisckburg where the dam is, there is rumored to be some VERY large cats.

Down on the Potomac, around Machadoc Creek, there are plenty of keeper rockfish and striper, and catsifh well into the 20lbs range.

i can verify this. I had a friend who went to the quarry, i think thats what it is, and scuba dived to the bottom and told me there are some HUGE cats down there

If you're looking for some bass I'd suggest the Shennandoah River. Beautiful scenery, nice canoeing, and decent fishing.

Has anyone ever fished in the Occoquan? What type of bait do you guys use? I've been using worms at Burke Lake and all I could catch where like 1lb cat fishes. Pretty sad.

Yea i have an have caught some real nice sized cats. Right now the white perch are running so catch 1 of them then cut it up and use it for the cats. Make sure you have a medium set up for the cats b/c they can spool you if they are large enough.
