If you go to school in a region that does not require emissions, then you can safely do what everybody has recommended. But other than that, you don't wanna deal with the possible repurcussions of providing a false address to DMV. DMV database info is linked with so many different organizations, you're bound to encounter a problem at some point.

for the last time m tell yall since i just did it today that you dont have to provide them a false adress you use your home adress and say that your car is garaged in a place that doesnt require emission but you can still live at your current location. like i live in woodbridge va but im principally garaged in fredericksburg.mya fredericksburg taxs go to my adress in woodbridge i pay my 35 dollar for property and im done. all principal garage is exactly that. your principal garage where your car is kept. not where you live. so i can store a car in fredericks burg and live here in woodbridge

TerboLaser is right.

Though on some cars, you can bump the timing a little bit and squeak trough emissions.

well just go to the dmv and change your principal garage to a place/ county where there isnt emission testing yet simple fix good places are fredericksburg richmond roanoke any place in the mountain. just look up the existing county that have emission in Va and then choose any other county possible that doesnt have it as your principal garage and you will no longer be required to passs emissions until that county gets emissions testing.and when that happens reap the above. untill every county in Va has emission then pick a new state. lol thats what im doing.

and I have a 3 inch cat back with a gutted cat straight piped with an atmospheric BOV and atmospheric wastegate dump tube then I have no EGR because im running a JDM motor. so yea im fucked for emission also but that will help im about to go and take the safety inspection tomorrow then im gunna go to dmv and get registration and change my principal garage.
what do you mean change your garage? like what do you say you moved to a new adress and you have to change your licence over? or did you just tell them this is where im keeping the car at a u haul storage place and thats that... sorry i dident get what u ment by that and i could use your help to.

my bad i thought every one under stood the concept of primary garage.

IF i live here in va i am a resident and citizen of wood bridge va. thats where my adress is thats my residence. but since i go to college 9 months out of the year in NC my cars principal garage would be guilford county NC thats just being honest witht hem. but changing your principal garage just means your car isnt being kept in different count its just that its where your car is parked the most out of a year.

Terbolaser is correct. When I go turbo and go catless, I'm gonna go to the dmv and change my principal garage to VA beach where they do not have emissions. You might even be able to do this through the net. Right now I don't need to since my car will pass emissions with flying colors. NO NEED FOR PROOF OF RESIDENCY.

registered or not, just go to the dmv and tell them your car will be garaged in a county that does not have an emissions law.
