Burke Lake is a good place to fish. Last year I found a whole area of beds. Caught 8 in 3 hours trying to get them to hit. Smallest being 3lb and largest was 7lb 3oz. That was a awsome day at the lake. All caught off Jig-n-pig and ugly otter.

I haven't been over to fountainhead this year but I think i'll make the drive over there sometime soon. Are the weeds/grass even up yet? oh, btw Fountainhead is not a lake, its a rez.

If you know the Centreville area, there is a pond over by lifetime, behind Boarder Cafe off rt29. There are a bunch of bass there as well as sunfish and a shit load of huge carp, but who catches carp anyways. Fished there last year after work at around 9pm when it was raining. Me and my buddy caught 14 bass in 45 minutes off a point. It took more time to take them off the hooks then to catch them. Use cranks, spinenrbaits, and plastics and your set there. Have not failed once there yet.

There is another favorite pond by Westfield Marriot on Stonecroft Blvd. Pond has some very nice bass in there. I fish there sometimes on my lunch break and catch one everytime. I have also fell into the pond ass well, don't ask me how but it was raining. Plastics and spinnerbaits seem to work very well. When the lily pads are up......Plastics.....gameover.

There is a pond that I found end of last year that I started to stock some bass in. There were some bass in there before but not enough. I saw a few people fish threre but very rare because its above ground. I let the secret out later this year when I feel that its ready.

For the fishing enthusiasts, we should meet up sometime!

Tight Lines,
Eddie

I fish a little Just moved into a new house so haven't had time yet, but been working on getting the bass boat ready and the Shenandoah River is a 1minute walk from my house.

Lake Anna is down the road also, as well as Switzer Dam (which is a nice little lake, but they don't allow gas powered motors on it)

C&R please
So you fish with dummies?

And C&R is only for baby fish. Bass taste too damn good to release. If you don't thin it out some, the pond/lake gets overstocked and the fish don't grow as big.

i really think we should do a car/fishing/ "bringyourownfood" meet. instead of standing around in the parking lot looking at cars, we can do something. Just a thought.

I don't fish with dummies, its just that they seem to need assistance on a few things like lure/bait selection, color, getting too excited when they catch something and leading to losing the fish from improper hook set.

I was referring to spawning bass for C&R. Don't get me wrong, I only catch and release at certain places and months. They taste very good. I keep them only during the summer months depending on size. Too big = very rubbery. I think the best is about 2lb. Tenderrrrr

JBee99, sounds like you got yourself a very good location! Water access everywhere.

MAD DOHC: Taking bass from most ponds in Fairfax county is illeagal, catch and release!! If you want to eat some bass go get on a charter and fish for some stripper!!! And its not that ponds get overstock, it that bass in unfertilized ponds grow much quicker than say a bass in a 200acre lake, easier to get food faster, which intern the bait fish population cannot keep up. So when a Big fat female spawns, her babys are eatin up within 48 hours of hatching by other starving fish in that pond, no offspring means no change in population.

If you really want to help local ponds and there population of worthy keepers start buying a couple hundred minnows from your local bait and tackel and dump them in 1 a month!! Not to be a jackass or anything I'm just all about C&R.

I like to fish with people who know what their doing but I usually fish from kayak on smaller lakes, and when on land, others tend to fall way behind due to my impatientness, I cant afford a bass boat with this honda hobby, but have friends with them that go out once or twice a year fresh water all the rest is saltwater!! But yeah Im willing to meet up sometime and fish.

Anyone else have a kayak??

Yeah I live in a very nice location for fishing. But I C&R all fish. Call me weird but I love to fish, but I don't eat fish. Don't like the taste. I will keep fish for my parents and anyone else that want to eat fish.

Maybe I should try fish again but it's been for years since I last tasted fish that didn't come out of a box from the freezer (YUM fish sticks)

I love the sport more then actually eating the fish. I should have a fishing show, all those guys on the shows C&R.
